Stanley Wisconsin could soon have more water operators, after the council voted 3-0 with four abstentions to offer the job to two unnamed candidates Monday, Oct. 6, each at a rate $25 per hour. Motion to extend the offer to the two candidates was made by Council Member Ben Wald and seconded by Council Member Mark Fitzsimmons.
Voting in favor of extending the water operator offers were Fitzsimmons, Wald and Council Member Jason Meyer. Abstaining from the council vote were four council members, including Keith Samuelson, Terry Metzger, Laurie Foster and Aaron Dickson. Samuelson abstained because he had applied for the job, with Metzger choosing not to vote, Dickson saying he wasn’t sufficiently read on the item, and Foster gave no reason.
The council vote after 7 p.m. Oct. 6 followed a closed session of the Personnel Committee earlier that evening in which Samuelson stayed outside, due to applying for the position.
Also in from Oct. 6 council, meanwhile, current water operator in charge Jon Strand shared details on the water department in his bimonthly council report, laying out work done, work planned, and planned training for the future.
As for planned training, Strand wrote that Jeriame Czubakowski will do preparation for the next testing module and sign up for the second series of operators exams, the plant currently overseen during the week by different city employees.
