Council wants to talk with local organizations

Meeting to be held at 6 p.m. prior to next Council meeting

If you belong to an organization that donated to the new Community Center, the City of Stanley would like to speak with you.

Relax, it’ll be painless.

More to the immediate point, the City of Stanley is looking to gauge ideas and expectations of those organizations that donated to the recently constructed Community Center at Chapman Park, prior to setting an official or final policy on rentals and use of the Community Center as such.

The meeting, which seeks the widest possible attendance from those organizations affected, will be held at 6 p.m. prior to the next Council meeting date on August 16. If you feel that your organization has a stake in the Community Center as such, the place to be is at the Stanley Fire Hall this August 16 at 6 p.m. Mark your calendars.

In other Council news from the most recent meeting on Monday August 2, the matter was touched upon that people blowing grass on the road will receive just one warning prior to facing a $200 fine. The monetary penalty is meant to discourage a practice dangerous to bikers and clogging the city pipe network, along with creating nutrient-based algae blooms in stormwater runoff downspout.

Check back next week for more relevant items from the Common Council meeting for August 2.
