This week, the Stanley-Boyd Athlete of the Week is senior Alex Williams, a star player on the Stanley-Boyd Varsity Baseball team. Williams, who has been swinging for the fences in baseball since kindergarten, credits much of his love for the sport to the camaraderie it fosters.
"My favorite part is being able to hang out with my friends and have fun playing together," he shared.
In addition to his dedication, Williams has shown incredible skill and leadership on the field, proving that he is a crucial member of the team. His coach, Ryan Sturm, couldn’t agree more, commenting that Alex is a “hard worker, a team player, and always willing to help out the younger players.” Coach Sturm continued, “He was 2nd Team All-Conference last year, and we’re expecting big things from him this season.”
Commenting on William’s talent beyond the ball field, Coach Sturm adds, “Besides being a great player, he is a better student and role model for others.”
One of Williams’ most memorable moments with Stanley-Boyd Baseball came when his team faced Regis. "My favorite memory with Stanley was going 7-8 and sweeping Regis," he said, reflecting on the success the team shared.
As for Williams’ future plans, he’s focused on his education and career after graduation. "My plans after I graduate are to become a physical therapist," he explained.
With his leadership, dedication, and strong work ethic, Alex Williams continues to make a grand slam impact. The Stanley-Boyd community looks forward to seeing what he accomplishes next because he’s sure to keep knocking it out of the park!
