City of Stanley Ward 1 and 8 Alderperson Joseph Davison has officially resigned as of Oct. 20. Davison, who was written in as a candidate and won a coin toss to obtain the city council seat, cited work commitments and wanting more time with his family as the reason for his resignation.

“The commitment of the council, and the commitment of all our city workers has astounded me,” he wrote in his letter of resignation. “I’m grateful to have had an up-close view these past few months and wish nothing but the best for all of you going forward.”

Residents hoping to fill the vacant seat can send a letter of interest to Stanley City Hall stating why they would like to be considered for the position on the common council. The open seat would be filled until the April 2025 election. Interested individuals must be a resident in Ward 1 and 8 of the City of Stanley (the northeast part of the city limits, see map at https://ci.stanley.wi.gov/election-information/), must be eligible to vote, and must be at least 18 years old. The City of Stanley Common Council meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month. Letters of interest can be sent via email to npilgrim@ci.stanley.wi.gov, dropped off at the city hall office located at 353 S. Broadway Street or be mailed to City of Stanley, PO Box 155, Stanley, WI 54768. For any further questions, please call city hall at 715-644-5758.
