It's the most wonderful time of the year: winter in Wis – consin! December may have started out unseasonably nice, but this week it's clearly winter again. Stay warm, everyone! Thank you for joining me for another monthly library col – umn. The library board meets on the second Tuesday every month at 5PM in the lower level of the library. If you're un – able to make it to the meeting, you can find the news and updates I share with the board each month here.

Last month we ran our Food for Fines program, with all the proceeds donated to the Our Savior's Lutheran Food Pantry here in Stanley. We had several boxes full of cans, packages, and baby food donated throughout the month and forgave more than one hundred dollars in fines. Thank you for participating in the program to help address food insecu – rity in our area.

Join our Reading Reflections challenge for the month of December! The end of the year marks a wonderful time to reflect on all that you've experienced and learned over the past 12 months. Take a moment this month to cozy up with a good book and set an intention for the coming year. Log your reading and activities to earn badges all month. Register at stanleylibrary.beanstack.org or talk to library staff for more information. The library is participating in the first annual Light Up the City contest, organized by the Stanley Community As – sociation. Participating homes and businesses across Stanley are decorating for the contest and the SCA will be releasing the addresses before voting begins, so you can plan to drive around the city and see the displays. Stop by the library to see our entry and don't forget to vote from December 18-20th!

Finally, please join us in welcoming our new Youth Services and Programs coordinator, Wyann Hoege! We are very grateful to Joy for the time and energy she gave to the library and the community, and though we are sad to see her go, it's exciting to have Wyann join our library team. Programs this month include storytime, the Creative Writers Guild, crafting club, and more. Check out our website, or pick up a calendar from the library, for the full details.

The library is open for you Monday through Friday from 10AM6PM. Come in any time to use the computers, find a book or movie, borrow a WiFi hotspot or iPad, or use our printer to fax, scan, and copy. We are also still offering curbside pick-up to those who wish to use that option as well as home delivery for the elderly and homebound. Please note the library will be closed on December 24th and 31st for the holidays. Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!
