D.R. Moon Library debuts next phase of capital campaign to expand and renovate

Groundbreaking in 2025, public has ways to contribute

The new addition for D.R. Moon Memorial Library will finally go ahead. You can help the effort.
The news comes after an announcement July 30 at the library Building Connections event that $1 million had been raised towards the $4.5 million project. Also helping move the project forward are a bond resolution by the city and private donations paving the way to new services. Hiring Baker Street Consulting, the library did a feasibility study showing the project could be completed, then proceeding to kick off a campaign last fall.
Library Board President Cathy Ryba made the announcement of the public appeal phase with the unveiling of a fundraising thermometer outside the library at 154 East Fourth Avenue, now showing $1 million in donations towards the project.
Among those contributing are Royal Credit Union with $110,000 for the children’s room, as well as local community organizations and those choosing to contribute ‘in kind,’ with needed materials.
Among those contributing in kind to the library project are Kolbe Windows with the windows needed for the site, while Wisconsin Bench has pledged furniture to the project.
Listed on the National Historic Register after applying for this in the 1980s, the library first dedicated in 1901 in memory of lumber baron Delos Rensselaer Moon Sr. embraces old and new alike, today having books, dvds, computers, wifi hotspots, and more, changing with the times to better serve the community.
Blending new with old then, the library expansion will see the addition of a downstairs community room as well as teen space, while staying up to date technologically. The new addition will also see wood throughout, contrasting with the older part externally while keeping harmony by materials used.
Those wishing to make contributions of their own towards this historic endeavor may do so by several means, including planned giving.
More on how to contribute can be found at https://stanleylibrary.org/building-project/,under the ‘support’ tab.
Working together, the library expansion and renovation will become a reality.
