The Boyd-Edson-Delmar area will have a new ambulance in about two years, pending delivery.
With the fire board voting at its most recent meeting to purchase a 2025 Horton from Foster Coach of Sterling Illinois, the new ambulance will replace an older 2007 Horton ambulance, Boyd-Edson-Delmar Fire and Ambulance Chief Ron Patten shared.
A $113,000 downpayment on the new wheels will come from a FLEX grant and ARPA funds, with the ambulance purchase totaling $282,360 after trade-in. Patten said that the interior equipment from the old ambulance will be transferred to the new one when it arrives in approximately two years, thus saving the department around $100,000.
