Street to be closed to all but local residents with designated route

Want to choose a course track that requires you helping at a controlled house burn to get that degree?

If that’s you, the CVTC Fire/EMS program may just be up your alley or street way. Come October 30, local tech school students will participate in a controlled house burn at 36854 90th Avenue in north Stanley, simply in order to complete their schooling. CVTC Fire/EMS Coordinator Mark Schwartz filled us in on some of the details.

"It's being burned for firefighter training with new firefighter students to complete their class,” Schwartz said of the residence off County H. Owned by a private citizen, Schwartz wasn’t sure what the plans were for after the burn.

“I’m not sure the owner’s plans after,” he said. So what about viewing?

Watch the paper for zoom lens photos. With just a narrow street for those participating in the burn and access closed to all but local residents through a designated route, this is one event that won’t be open to the public. After all, burning down a house, can get dangerous—that’s what training is for.

For those looking for something to do, meanwhile, there’s a Trunk and Treat Event that’ll be going on at Courtesy Ford around the same time. Why not stop on down at Courtesy this Saturday?
