JON KOTT BENEFIT HELD SATURDAY

Posted

Saturday August 5 brought a large crowd to Tom’s Stanley Bar and Bowl to support the Slow your Roll Car & Bike Show. This benefit show was held as a fundraiser for the Jon Kott Mid-State Truck Service Memorial Scholarship fund. The funds raised go to scholarships awarded to area students enrolled in the Diesel Truck Technician program and Automotive Maintenance Technician or Automotive Collision Repair and Refinish Technician programs at Chippewa Valley Technical College.  Jon, son of Jim and Cindy (Ederer) Kott, was the young man who passed away from natural causes on December 11, 2021 at the age of 23.

At the time of his death, Jon worked as a diesel technician for Mid-State Truck Service in Chippewa Falls.  Jon’s family and his co-workers wanted to do something to honor and remember Jon, so the benefit was started. They know Jon would approve of the fundraiser as a way to provide financial support to students going into the career field he so enjoyed.  During the day’s events, Karen Kohler from Chippewa Valley Technical College spoke about the scholarship and how it works and helps the community students.

The day provided numerous raffles, music, a 50/50 drawing, charcoal chicken and of course, many cars and bikes for the benefit goers to enjoy. There were a total of 66 cars, trucks, motorcycles and semi-trailers registered.  Winners for the Classic Car & Truck include Best Engine 1st place Mitch Peloquin, 2nd place went to Bob Henri. Best Paint 1st place was Jenessa Miland, 2nd to Harry Bentzler, Kids Choice 1st place was won by Jeremy Robinson and 2nd place went to Jim Brant.  Best of Show went to Jacoby Mattot.  For the Motorcyles, Best Engine 1st place was won by Dan Oninski, 2nd was Bradley & Joan Lesik. Best Paint 1st place was Brian Gutowski, and 2nd was Daniel Calkins.  Kids Choice 1st place went to Laura Hobbick and 2nd went to Nicki Gutowski.  Best of Show went to Patrick Lesik. Bob Mertens won Best of Show for his semi-trailer.  50/50 winners included Kelly Booth and John Hoel.

Sponsors for the event include Herb & Dana Carlson, Stanley Bar & Bowl, Chilsons of Cadott, Split Rock Excavating, Ben & Mindy Miland, Wundrow Repair, Stanley Tire Center, Stacy’s Auto Repair, Drink Inn of Thorp, Bill Candell, Mid State Truck Service, Wissota Transport, Mac Tool-Jeremy Robinson, Express Mart, Mays Auto Sales, Country View Diesel of Cadott, Hazuga’s True Value, Chippewa Valley Auto Parts, Lube Suppliers, Fast Lane Detailing, and Knock Out Nutrition, Oemig’s Sport Shop - Stanley, Thorp Equipment - Thorp, Dave and Shari Ederer, Mel’s Foxx Den, Herb Carlson and Sons, Wissel Transport - Thorp, Ray’s Market - Colby, R & K Sheds, Mariah Murphy, Rock Solid Concrete, Michelle and Lonnie Nayes, Insane Design, AV Live Entertainment, and Mike Meddaugh.
