On Monday, March 17, 2025, the Stanley Fire Department along with the Boyd-Edson-Delmar Fire Department had a joint training on Wild Land Fire Refresher hosted by the Stanley Fire Department. Jed Kaurich, DNR Forester Ranger, who works out of the Augusta Ranger Station, was the instructor. He showed some videos of different wild land fires and handed out different scenarios of the different types of fire we might encounter. We had discussions about safety, how best to attack the fire, calling other departments for more help, protecting structures if we can, evacuations, and the best use of our resources. Shown above from left are DNR Forest Ranger Jed Kaurich, Ryan Eslinger, Carter Vait, Jody Halterman, and Tyler Hills.
