There is no way of measuring the influence of the library in the past 50 years on the minds of young people who have called Stanley their home town. -Edwin B Roe, 1951 (with edwinbroe image. Found on roefamilie.com)

Edwin B Roe, known as “Mr. Library,” was a life-long resident of Stanley and an active, prominent member of the community, serving as a teacher, school superintendent, mayor, and many other community-minded roles during his lifetime. He served on the library board from 1942 until his death in 1976. He remembered the library’s 1901 dedication from when he was a boy and championed the importance of the library throughout his life.

This past summer Miss Wyann managed a special butterfly program and raised monarch butterflies at the library! It was amazing to watch the butterfly life-cycle from caterpillar to chrysalis.

Did you know…?

Of the library’s 35,755 checkouts and renewals last year, nearly 50%, or 17,635, were our children’s materials.

We can help with that!
