Library presents to Boyd Village Board

First phase of capital campaign underway, input still sought

Coming to Boyd Village Board Tuesday, Oct. 10, the Stanley Library Board and Director laid a vision of better library service in Stanley-Boyd.

Currently in the first phase of a capital campaign to raise awareness and support for a two-part bulding renovation/additon at the D. R. Moon Memorial Library, those presenting at Boyd were board members Marge Konik and Cathy Ryba, as well as Library Director Elizabeth Miniatt.

The building plans, put together by River Architects and first presented this summer, call for two-phase plan of building the addition followed by renovation of the existing library. Plans would be finalized before fundraising starts, with construction would begin in spring 2025, the addition/renovation estimated to cost upwards of $4 million.

As to the addition, it calls for a community room that would be accessible outside library hours of along with young adult and study areas. Director Elizabeth Miniatt shared that the Boyd area approximated 2,000 circulations from the library, and village trustees seemed positive on the plans.

“This would be a pretty nice meeting space,” Trustee Michael Eslinger said. Sarah McQuillian brought up the importance of having a neutral meeting ground for things involving separated families, the general report being positive. So what might renovation do?

“One difference is that the fireplace will work,” Board President Cathy Ryba said as one possible fruit of renovating the present building. Now that would be something to see!
