Mother Nature played her part and offered a near-perfect Sunday morning as a successful Stanley Lion’s Club 5k run/walk was held as part of the 47th annual Stanley Lion’s Watermelon Festival held July 25th at Chapman Park. Runners came from across the region to participate in the ninth annual 3.1-mile run/walk. Reed Anderson of Cottage Grove won his fifth straight male division title and April Reinart of Greenwood was crowned the ladies champion for the second time in a row. Overall winners received running bobble head awards, and division winners received a chilled watermelon. The 5k run/walk was followed by a well-attended kids race.
