The students of Stanley-Boyd began the 2023-2024 school year on Monday, August 14th with busy chatter and much-loved familiar faces. Excitement filled the air as students rushed to find their lockers and greet friends and teachers. The new year also brought some fresh new smiling faces as ten new teachers were hired for the upcoming school year. The new teachers are Courtney Frankewicz and Gretta Layman, who will both teach second grade, Peter Place, the new Middle School and High School Physical Education teacher, and Kimberly Halterman who will teach High School English. Also new this year is Hannah DeYoung who will teach Elementary Music, Maria Back, the eighth grade Science teacher, Elliot Genteman who will teach seventh grade Math, and Brandy Pecha who will teach middle school and high school special education. Stanley-Boyd will also see two returning Alumni, Sam Goettl who will teach Tech Ed, Kim Goettl who will teach first grade, and Gretta Layman, who will be a Paraprofessional. Reached once the first day was over, superintendent Jeff Koenig shared the following.
“I think it went well,” he said. “It’s exciting to have everyone back. It’s good to have everyone learning again.”
