"Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds." Here is an interested tidbit according to usps.com while the Postal Service has no official motto, the popular belief that it does is a tribute to America's postal workers. The words above, thought to be the motto, are chiseled in gray granite over the entrance to the New York City Post Office on 8th Avenue and come from Book 8, Paragraph 98, of The Persian Wars by Herodotus. During the wars between the Greeks and Persians (500-449 B.C.), the Persians operated a system of mounted postal couriers who served with great fidelity. The Stanley and Boyd United States Postal Workers deliver the mail in all types of weather. Around the holidays they work very long hours and have a very large job each day of delivering all the mail.  This deserving group of people was nominated by a member of the community for their hard work and dedication to the city of Stanley and Boyd. The nomination said “The staff at the Stanley post office is always very friendly and helpful. The mail carriers are out in all weather’s delivering the mail. Thank you for helping to make Stanley run as efficient as possible” It is hardworking people like you that make Stanley a great city! Members of the community are encouraged to nominate a fellow citizen for next month’s award  by filling out a nomination form available at our website www.stanleycommunity.us, visiting our Facebook page or pick up a nomination form at Martino’s Restaurant, Harris Family Chiropractic or Reclaimed Tavern. Winner receives the High Five Award certificate and a Martino’s Restaurant gift card.
