Oriole boys fall to Thunder 10-6 in Friday away game

Posted

With the regular season fast drawing to a close, the Stanley-Boyd varsity baseball team headed out to Osseo-Fairchild last week, where they gave the Thunder a run for their money.

Switching pitchers to close the third inning down to the Thunder, the Orioles almost turned it around in the top of the fourth, had the Thunder not rallied back to put a stop to the running streak.

With five runs batted in across the fourth inning to bring the score 7 - 5 for an electrifying middle portion, the Orioles ultimately closed out with a loss on Friday, falling to the Thunder with a 10 - 6 final score. Orioles head coach Ryan Sturm shared more on the game after the score was tallied.

“We played well enough to win with our hitting and pitching but our defense let us down,” he said. “We had 8 errors. Without those errors we would have won.  We need to play a complete game to beat a good team like Osseo. Our pitching and hitting have been steadily improving this year which is nice to see!”

The Orioles are scheduled to play Owen-Withee on Friday, May 19 at Owen-Withee. Game start is 5 p.m.
