All conference listings are out for Cloverbelt football, and among the names on the list for 2022-23 are four Stanley-Boyd Orioles.
Storm Tiry, Simon Polman, Chase Sturm, and Grant Hatfield are the names in question.
As for Tiry, the sophomore defensive linebacker has been named to Second Team Defense All Conference, with linebacker and high school junior Sturm also on Second Team Defense for All Conference.
Making the second Team Offense was serniro kicker Polman, while First Team Offense has been taken by Offensive lineman Hatfield. Orioeles head coach Jeff Koenig had praise for each once the news was announced. “Grant was a leader on the offensive and defensive lines this year,” Koenig said of Hatfield. “He could play every position and even played some quarterback for us.” Of Polman Koenig also had praise.
“Simon was a phenomenal kicker,” Koenig said. “His leg strength and accuracy were a great surprise considering he never played football before this season.” Polman is a foreign exchange student from the Netherlands. As to Sturm, his season was cut short this year.
“Chase is a physical linebacker that had his season cut short this year,” Koenig said. “He is strong and fast and can be a differencemaker in games.” For Tiry, there are still two more years of high school.
“Storm improved every week,” Coach Koenig said. “His strength and reach made it very difficult for teams to block him this year.”
