Oriole girls volleyball season underway

The 2025 Oriole girls volleyball season is underway. With five returning starters and a scrimmage Saturday at Black River Falls as well as a meet Aug. 26 at Medford after press time, Orioles head volleyball coach Karley Wiensch shared thoughts on what the season could hold in store for the Oriole varsity spikers.
“I am very excited for what the season is going to bring!!!” Wiensch said. “We graduated four players from last year, but will be returning five starters from last year as well. We are going to be a very athletic and motivated team this year.”
Wiensch went on to say that goals this year include winning the conference to place first in the Cloverbelt, making a far run in playoffs and seeding the top three, with hopes for a state appearance in November.
“I truly believe that we will finish at the top of the Cloverbelt-West this year and I believe will make a pretty far run into playoffs, if not make it to state.
“We have had some great opportunities already this summer to play and get a feel of what the year will bring. My coaching staff and I are very excited for the Stanley-Boyd Volleyball Program!!! For this upcoming season we will have our core group back from last year with five returning starters (Bailey Sikora, Macie Lagrander, Ava Prahl, Kelly Lew, and Kendall Sikora), with the reset of the squad being underclassmen.”
The Oriole girls varsity volleyball team plays an invitational at UW-Stout Friday, Aug. 29. Start time is 8:00 a.m.
