The Oriole varsity softball season is over. Playing Prescott on Tuesday, June 2 at home, the Orioles fell 3-4 in seven innings to the Cardinals.
Orioles head softball coach Kim Goettl shared more after results.
“I couldn’t have asked for a more dedicated, focused, smart and fun team,” she said. “This group is one for the record books! We know we had more to prove and are disappointed in the ending but so proud of what we accomplished.
“We had an outstanding season! Outstanding for so many reasons. Winning the Western Cloverbelt Conference and Regionals will always be a special memory. But the players as individuals are outstanding.
Goettl went on.
“We knew we had more to give and achieve but that is sports, often we don’t finish where you deserve. I can stop talking about how proud I am of this team. Their work ethic, softball IQ, and personalities made the season a success. I will miss so much from this season.
“I predict amazing things for next year. We are losing two seniors (Ava Prahl and Bailey Sikora) which will create a large hole but I am confident the team will step up to maintain an environment that the seniors worked so hard to create.”
