The Oriole varsity spikers are on a roll. Traveling to Medford on Tuesday, Aug. 26 and following this up with a trip to Menomonie Friday and Saturday, the Orioles came away last week with 11 wins and just one loss, bringing their record thus far 11-1 overall. Taking first at Medford and second at Menomonie, the Oriole spikers aced the competition.
The Medford the Orioles won their matches 2-0 against Gilman, Athens and Medford, finishing 2-1 against Columbus Catholic. At Menomonie days later the Orioles closed out 2-0 Friday against Somerset, Menomonie, Merrill, Cameron, fishing 2-0 agents River Falls Saturday and 2-1 against Somerset, McDonell, and Rice Lake.
Orioles varsity volleyball head coach Karley Wiensch shared more after results were in.
“We only dropped one set all night, she said of Medford. “There was some great competition with Medford and we both were battling with each other. We also battled with Columbus Catholic as well!
The team worked hard and played very well together! We are excited for what is to come with the season and are looking forward to the Menomonie Sprawl on Friday and Saturday!!!”
Wiensch shared more after the Sprawl at Menomonie.
“Stanley-Boyd took second place at the Menomonie Sprawl this weekend, losing to River Falls in the championship match,” she said. “Stanley-Boyd had a great weekend going 7-1.” The Orioles placed as third overall out of 40 after pool play Friday and second out of 40 teams after competition was over Saturday.
