The Orioles boys varsity met Fall Creek at Stanley-Boyd on Thursday, Jan. 29, the final score 71-59 in the Cricket’s favor. The Fall Creek game followed a Tuesday away game against Thorp which saw the Orioles defeat the Cardinals 66-51.
Top point contributors on Tuesday against Thorp were Charlie Hoel with 19 points, Brenner Myers with 18, and Brayten Mallo with 16.
“I thought we did a great job of running our offense, setting, good screens, and getting the ball inside,” Oriole boys head varsity basketball coach Dakota Nichols shared of Thorp.
As for Fall Creek, top contributors were Hoel with 28 points and 12 rebounds, and Myers with 13 points.
“Unfortunately we shot the ball lower than our season average, and had some difficulty taking care of the ball,” Nicholes said. “Credit to Fall Creek, they are a great team that was physical and forced us to take some tough shots. There is a lot of learning points to take away from this game. We need to refocus, learn from our mistakes, and continue to improve before the playoffs get here. Overall, I’m proud of the way the boys battled.”
The Orioles now play Cadott on Thursday, Feb. 12 at Stanley-Boyd. Game start is 7:00 p.m.
