Are you going to Watermelon Fest? With summer events

now back in swing, the Lions are putting on a tasty treat down at Chapman Park. I must confess that I myself have never went, but this is about to change. From 2013 until 2018 I was in college and summer classes (faster graduation), in 2019 I think someone else got pictures and last year was…well, you know. Not this year though. Be sure to check it out.

••••• Also up for mention and community action is the military convoy coming to town at the end of the month. Down at Soo Park on July 31 there will be a “Touch a Truck & More Event” with vintage military vehicles traveling the Yellowstone Trail.

This once in a lifetime event is being hosted by the local Le- gion Post 112 and VFW Post 2711, along with the Clark County

Development and Tourism Bureau. The convoy soon to come is

one of five or so cross-country drives the Military Vehicle Pres ervation Association (MVPA) has done, as shared by local event organizers Monday at the Council meeting in the Stanley Fire Hall. Vehicles on display will include hardware from the Korean to Iraq conflicts. The convoy will stay for lunch and move out to

Abbotsford towards evening, complete with police escort—now that’s style!

••••• Also coming up for a community opportunity shortly will be the citywide thrift sales in August, with information on page 2 of this issue and sign up through Darla at 715-709-0008. Deadline to have your listing included for the citywide sales is Friday, August 6th at 2 p.m.

••••• Also worth mentioning is that the Friends of the Library now has new leadership following a meeting June 29 and another on July 12. The new officers are as follows:

President Ed Miniatt, Vice President Joseph Miniatt Treasurer Quintin Grützmacher, and Secretary Lib Quinn.

Those interested in joining the Friends group should contact the Library for more information.

••••• Last but not least for those still squirreled away or soon off to college, a free website called www.keybr.com exists to learn or improve touch typing ability. The exact entity behind it isn’t clear (a possible cautionary note), but potential learners can otherwise set up their own free account and document touch typing progress, which ability helps meet term paper deadlines among other uses.
