Police suspend winter parking enforcement dependent on weather

It may officially run through April 1 each year, but enforcement of winter parking hours has been offi cially suspended by the Stanley Police as of Thursday March 17, pending the unpredictable weather. Details were shared recently to the Stanley Police Department Facebook page “Overnight parking restrictions have been suspended and therefore parking on city streets is now permitted,” the department shared with residents of the facts on the ground. “In the event of an accumulating snow event between now and April 1, parking would again be restricted between 3 – 6 a.m.”

Also related in the police department update for the week of March 24, Police chief Lance Weiland related to the Council in his bi-monthly report that he would be requesting the addition of an item to the April 4 agenda, “as it relates to the recent hiring process and contracted services agreement with the Village of Boyd.” With Stanley due to provide services to the vil- lage in the wake of Chief Eslinger’s pending May 4 retirement , the two municipalities have held off on details of an agreement as they go through candidates to find out just what the final one would require in terms of contract details to work for the area. In the meantime, the investigation goes on for the Franklin Street house fire, with little to report.

“As this is an ongoing and active investigation, no information is being released to the public at this time,” the Chief wrote the Council.
