Weather leads to cancelled games as rain and flurries

Outdoor sports, outdoor hazards. With Nature being unpredictable of late, the Stan ley-Boyd baseball and softball seasons have found themselves with postponed and cancelled games. With a Neillsville game from Tuesday April 12 postponed without a clear reschedule and another cancelled Monday April 18 at Cornell after snow started falling, Varsity softball coach Tyler Wagner summed up the situation as it stands on the postponed games and just where the team plans to go from here.

“At this time we are waiting to see what the weather allows for games to be made up,” he said of the Neillsville and Cornell softball games. “There are no dates set for either games at this time. We are eager to get on to the softball field and play some games." Should the weather cooperate, the varsity softball team will face ou April 21 against Fall Creek at 5 p.m., then against Thorp on Friday, also at 5 p.m. Following this, a game is sched – uled against Cadott on Tuesday April 26 at 4 p.m. So what about baseball?

Much the same, unfortunately. Standing at a record of 1 – 1 in ovcial online game postings as of Tuesday morning, the Oriole baseball was due to play Regis Monday evening, the same day snow cancelled the softball game against Cornell. That said, there are some sports statistics to relate for the season to date.

With two games so far this season, the lead Orioles in terms of batting averages are Grant Hatfield, Langdon Hoel and Logan Burzynski, all swinging in at .500. Following this trio its Tyler Reynolds, batting in at .286, followed by JJ Heller with .250 and Brett Kroeplin at .200. Alex Williams and Hayden Gustafson round out the team at .167 and .143 respectively, bringing the Oriole varsity baseball batting average to date to .245.

As to Hits, Hatfield and Burzynski have each brought three, while Reynolds has made two hits and all others one hit in terms of batting.

For Run statistics, meanwhile, Kroeplin, Gustafson, and Heller each have two, while no other players have more than one. As to strikeouts, Kroeplin, Carson Dachel, Hoel and Burzynski each having zero for the two game season, thus euectively leading the pack.

Closing out the baseball update with on-base percentages, Burzynski and Hatfield lead the pack with a percentage of .571, followed with .500 for Heller and Hoel. Proceeding in turn Kroeplin comes in with .429 for an on-base per- centage, while Reynolds comes in at .286 and Gustafson at .250, Williams closing the recap out at .167. Overall, the team percentage for on- base is .344 over two games.

Shifting over to Oriole softball statistics, the current two game season has seen Lauren Po taczek lead the way with two hits total, while Aaliyah Allard, Abby Reynolds, Chelsie Nawrocki, Kaden Drehmel, Taniele Ducommun and Tina Benson each have one.

For Runs, meanwhile, the season has been meager so far, with Nawrocki, Ducommun, and Benson each scoring one, along with Sierra Close.

As to batting averages, Potaczek leads the field for Oriole softball, with a total of .400 in five at bats, while Reynolds comes in at an aver age of .333, from a total of three at bats.

Following this in turn are Allard and Naw- rocki, each at .200 for batting stats, while Du – commun and Benson each stand at .167, while Drehmel has an average of .125, this from a total of eight at bats.

For on base percentages, meanwhile, Reyn- olds leads the pack with .667, followed by Po – taczek with .571 and Close with .500. Benson comes in at .375, Nawrocki at .333, Ducommun at .286, and Allard at .200 for on-base percent ages.

Should the weather cooperate, there will be more statistics to report, but until then, let us simply hope for warmer and dryer weather-to play ball!
