Monday, January 27- Crazy Sock Day
On Monday, students at Saint Joseph Catholic School will participate in Crazy Sock Day. Students are encouraged to wear their most fun and unique socks to school, and the community is invited to join in the fun by wearing crazy socks to work or school as a way to show support for Catholic education. It’s a simple but fun way to get involved!
Tuesday, January 28- Career Day
Tuesday will be Career Day, where students can dress up as their future selves. Principal Russ Jensen comments, “I hope to see astronauts, doctors, police officers, construction workers, bakers, and more.” To further enrich the experience, the school is arranging guest speakers from various careers to talk to students about what it’s like to work in their field and how faith has influenced their professional lives.
Wednesday, January 29- Rally Day at MACS
On Wednesday, the school will participate in a special Mass at McDonell Area Catholic Schools (MACS) in Chippewa Falls, where students from seven local schools will gather to celebrate together. “It is a wonderful opportunity to make new friends and to build our communities,” adds Jensen.
Thursday, January 30- Fortitude Day
Thursday will be dedicated to the virtue of Fortitude. The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines it as such: “Fortitude or courage is the moral virtue that ensures firmness in difficulties and constancy in the pursuit of the good. It strengthens the resolve to resist temptations and to overcome obstacles in the moral life.” (CCC 1808). Jensen shares that students have been learning about fortitude throughout the month, and on this day, they will participate in fun, hands-on activities. “We will be building snow fort(itude)s outside (if the weather permits) or indoor fort(itude)s in our classroom to help strengthen our faith in God.” Come by in the afternoon to see the forts in action, and don’t forget to visit the Book Fair!
Friday, January 31- Field Trip and Game Night
Friday will begin with Mass at Saint Joseph Church, followed by a field trip for students to reflect on their growth as a community. Then, to wrap up Catholic Schools Week, the school will host Game Night from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the school gym. Bring your favorite board games or card games and join in the fun! Past game nights have been a huge hit with the kids, and this one is set to be just as fun and memorable. A main dish will be served, and while you’re welcome to bring a dish to share, it’s not required. The focus is on fellowship and fun, and everyone is invited. There will even be door prizes!
Jensen shared that staff and students look forward to celebrating Catholic Schools Week and the joy of their school with the community. “We would love to have you join us for an evening of fun and to give you a chance to check out Saint Joseph Catholic School,” welcomes Jensen. “And, if you have been a part of the school in the past, then come on back as we would love to see you again.” Don’t miss out on the fun—mark your calendars and join St. Joseph Catholic School for an unforgettable week!
