SCA hears from Area Food Pantry
Donna Olkowski (far left), director of the Stanley-Boyd Area Food Pantry, spoke to members of the Stanley Community Association on April 11th to explain the dire need for donations, specifically monetary donations. The Food Pantry, housed in the basement of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, purchases the food it distributes from Feed My People Food Bank, and it has been a struggle as monetary donations to the Food Pantry have declined. To combat this, the Stanley-Boyd Area Food Pantry has needed to use savings to cover what they need to give to the needy in this area. Olkowski explains that some months they only receive monetary donations of under $100 and that is not enough to cover the approximately 2,000 lbs of food that goes out each month. The Stanley-Boyd Area Food Pantry appreciates the volunteer help from those in the community, including students from Open Doors Academy and the Stanley-Boyd National Honor Society. Volunteers to the Food Pantry are always welcome and appreciated. Anyone who wishes to donate or to volunteer can contact the Stanley-Boyd Area Food Pantry at 715-644-0644.
