Get ready to spread some holiday cheer and let those lights shine! The Stanley Community Association is hosting the 3rd annual Light up the City Competition. Local residents with a Stanley or Boyd address can decorate and light up their homes and have a chance to win a prize! The deadline for registering your home for the competition is Dec. 3 and the Light Display voting period begins Dec. 9 and runs through Dec. 16. Community members can vote with Facebook likes or paper ballots which will count towards one quarter of the points and the remaining three quarters will be determined by a panel of out-of-town judges. The winner will be announced on Dec. 20 with prizes awarded for first, second and third place, including $100 cash and a yard sign for first place, $50 cash for second place and $25 cash for third. Business owners can join in the fun too! The winner of the best business light display will also receive a sign for their window.
Ballots and maps of the participating houses and businesses will be available on the Stanley Community Association’s website, Facebook page, City Hall and in the Stanley Republican. Paper ballots can be dropped off at City Hall. Interested parties can sign up at stanleycommunity.us under the event tab and on the SCA Facebook page.
