The Stanley-Boyd Scholarship Banquet was held May 23 at 1:00 p.m. in the Stanley-Boyd High School Gymnasium.
The annual event saw staff, students, and local organization representatives gather in the high school gym at Stanley-Boyd.
New this year was the first annual Lakken’s Legacy Scholarship, awarded by Greg Burzynski to Riley Schad, on behalf of the Burzynski family in memory of Lakken Burzynski.
“I’m here to present the first annual scholarship on behalf of my daughter, Lakken Burzynski,” Greg Burzynski said in announcing the $1,000 award. Lakken Burzynski graduated with the Class of 2020 and attended college before succumbing to cancer last year. The award given in her honor is part of Lakken’s Legacy, a group that grew out of Team Lakken. The group is on Facebook at Lakken’s Legacy and also has a website at www.lakkenslegacy.com.
