School approves contract for LHB design services on district office

The Stanley-Boyd Area Schools Board of Education met in a pre-Christmas regular meeting Monday, Dec. 16, conducting much business.
Among business covered was a contract for LHB services related to a proposed district office relocation, new Ford Explorer from Courtesy Ford, and the designation of Health Styles LLC to conduct pre-employment tuberculosis screening for the district.
As for LHB, the contract for services related to a proposed district office will see the Superior-based architectural firm prepare materials for a proposed district office relocation with refers to plans only, the total estimated project cost of $2 million for the proposed district office relocation to be paid for with Fund 46 Capital Improvement Funds.
“This is the actual contract with LHB,” District Superintendent Jeff Koenig told those present at the school board meeting Dec. 16 as he showed a document link, making a special note on the renovation of existing district offices as having a potential later bid. The contract including a timeline for actions would see conceptual design of the proposed relocation of the district office from January to February of next year with schematic design from March to April and Design Development from May to June 2025. Construction documents would be prepared from July to August 2025, with bidding taking place from September to October 2025. Construction on the proposed office would not start before May 2026.
The contract for design services from LHB was approved a motion from board member Bob Geist, seconded by Board member Toni Seidl.
Also at the Dec. 16 school board meeting, was approval of a vehicle purchase. With motion made by Geist and seconded by board member Ryan Lewallen, the purchase not to exceed $43,610 will see a 2025 Explorer Active with four wheel drive join the school’s vehicle fleet. Details on the approved wheels include a 119 inch wheelbase, 2.3 liter Ecoboost I-4 Engine, and ten speed auto transmission, the new transport earning 20 miles per gallon in the city and 27 per mile on the highway for an average fuel economy of 23 miles per gallon. In addition, the new school wheels include a three year or 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty, as well as a five year or 60,000 miler power train and roadside assistance warranty. Functional features include a rear view camera, side-wind stabilization, and four wheel ABS brakes.
Contained in consent agenda from Dec. 16, several coach designations were made, with Nick Mahr as head cross country coach, Sam Goettl as middle school football coach, Randy Gustafson as assistant girls golf coach, Devon Wenndt as head girls golf coach, Karley Wiensch as head volleyball coach, Kimberly Goettl as middle school volleyball coach, and Brody Mahr as head football coach.
Closing out the regular school board update, the school designated Health Styles LLC to do pre-employment tuberculosis screening. The item contained in the night’s consent agenda stipulates that the district will pay for screening at Health Styles and that while employees can choose to have this screening done by the provider of their choice instead the district will not be responsible for nor reimburse for tuberculosis screening expenses through other providers.
