Starting the year early to provide the maximum summer project window for next year’s elementary remodel, Stanley-Boyd Schools took the next step, accepting a bid Monday for the air handler that needs to be in early next spring.
Meeting August 28 in the high school library for their regular meeting, the board approved an air handler bid from SVL of Roseville, Minnesota for $149,470, along with $9,930 for a 2 addition year parts and labor warranty.
Board action comes now as the unit, a Daikin CAH Indoor Air Handler, must be in for the larger elementary remodel project paid with Fund 46 savings to move forward next year. Or rather, it must be installed and operational next fall for school to restart, meaning it’s first to go in next spring. Delivery wait time means planning ahead can help ensure that it arrives, rather than having to wait and derail the remodel project. Another reason to go in first is that, well, it’s big.
“It needs to have a large area to go through,” district superintendent Jeff Koenig explained of the unit. With motion made by Denise Hoffstatter and seconded by Ryan Lewallen, Stanley-Boyd Schools will be ready to install the air handler when elementary remodel begins next year--paid with savings.
