A man was transported to hospital Sunday night, after being hit broadside by a semi as he tried to cross Highway 29 at County Highway G between Stanley and Boyd.
The man, whose name was not available at press time, was unable to cross the road due to slippery conditions, the semi traveling eastbound at the time of the accident. The semi driver came to a stop on the south shoulder just east of 345th Street following the collision called in at 6:20 p.m.
The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department and Boyd-Edson-Delmar Fire and Ambulance both responded to the call.
“A vehicle was trying to cross Highway 29 at County Highway G,” Boyd-Edson-Delmar Fire and Ambulance Chief Ron Patten shared. “Because of the slippery conditions he didn’t get all the way across, and was hit broadside.”
Patten said that the semi driver that hit the car had a full load of cattle at the time of the crash and took a while to stop. Another semi came to the scene later and parked with its back gate to the gate of the other semi.
No further information was available on the accident at press time.
