Severe Thunderstorm Warning wakes up Stanley Country

Posted

The sky was tinged with red and cloudy early Tuesday morning at 6:55 a.m., when the warning siren pierced the morning air like a rude alarm clock. Good morning? As it turns out, the National Weather Service had issued a severe thunderstorm warning. The not so-welcome wakeup call saw thunder rumble and flashes of lightning as the Sun rose to the east, while the Stanley-Boyd itself was on the far northern boundary of the warning area. Mild and sporadic rain fell, while the sky grew dark. At 7:30, the storm hit, with cold steady rain in the headlights as sound and fury rocked the heavens. An interesting way to start the day, to say the least.
