On Saturday, Dec. 13, members of the Stanley Lions Club made a trip to Chippewa Falls to pick up Spirit of Christmas gifts for distribution to families of Stanley and Boyd. Carl Edwardson, Larry Ciokiewicz and Tim Troyer drove to Chippewa Falls to pick up the gifts. They were met by Norm Christianson and Gary Krueger to unload and organize the gifts at the Stanley Community Building. Parents came to the Community Center to pick up the gifts which were distributed by members of the Stanley Lions Club. This year, 65 families living in the Stanley and Boyd areas received gifts acquired by Spirit of Christmas of Chippewa County which is a non-profit that was organized in 1988. In all, over 500 families from Cadott, Chippewa Falls, Cornell, Stanley, Boyd, and the north side of Eau Claire, all of which are in Chippewa County, received presents. This year, about 1,400 children in Chippewa County received gifts. The all-volunteer Spirit of Christmas (SOC) depends entirely on donations to purchase and distribute gifts for the families. One-hundred percent of donations are used for acquiring and distributing the gifts to families of Chippewa County.
