Stanley-Boyd Archery made history last week by hosting its inaugural two-day tournament on January 10th and 11th, a significant achievement for the program in its second year. The event drew 433 archers from across the region, with 53 competitors representing Stanley-Boyd.
The high school team put in a strong showing, scoring 3062 and finishing 7th out of 10 schools.
But the middle school team led the charge, taking 1st place with an impressive score of 3128.

The top five middle school personal records (PR) included:
•Ben Henderson 277
•Gavin Potaczek 267
•Liam Hoel 267
•Morgan Gundlach 265
•Jackson Patten 259

The top five high school PRs included:
•Derrick Lato 275
•Eli Lilla 270
•Kylee Solie 255
•Colton Winger 255
•Hailey Mateski 242
Archery coach Brandy Pecha was thrilled with the outcome of the tournament. “The tournament was an absolute success. We couldn’t have asked for anything better for our first year hosting. The kids and parents went above and beyond to make sure we had everything covered. The kids worked hard getting everything set up and cleaned up when we were done. It was a busy weekend that couldn’t have been possible without the support that we had from the community and parents,” Pecha shared.
The middle school team is now setting its sights on a state title, having posted a new personal record (PR). Meanwhile, the high school team is gearing up for fierce competition as they look to make a run for nationals. Both teams have shown remarkable improvement, starting the season over 300 points higher than last year.
“We have no doubt that their success will continue,” added Pecha. “Time to get back to the grindstone and continue making progress.”
