Stanley-Boyd Community Red Cross Blood Drive Goes Over Goal

The Stanley-Boyd Red Cross Blood Drive collected 5 units over the goal of 55 and came at this time of a national crisis for blood. There were a total of 72 appointments, 60 people who came in to donate, nine donors donating power reds for a total of 18 units, 42 donating whole blood, with 13 deferrals, along with some cancellations and no-shows. The total number of units collected was 60.

Those assisting with this drive were the City of Stanley who allowed the use of the Community Center for the drive, Stanley Lions and Partners and other site volunteers, Sunrise, who donat – ed a gift certificate for a drawing, volunteers who called donors, and all the donors who came in to donate.

The Sunrise gift certificate winner was Joseph Henderson.

The next Stanley-Boyd Community Red Cross blood drive will be Thursday, June 2 at the Stanley Community Center. Ap pointments may be made by calling Donella Christianson at 715– 644-3638 or going on line.

Upcoming drives are August 4, October 14, and December 23, all at the Stanley Community Center.
