On Saturday, February 1, Stanley-Boyd High School students participated in the FBLA Regional Conference at St. Croix Central High School in Hammond, where they represented the school with distinction. Eli Lilla claimed first place in Health Care Administration, while Bella Goettl earned first in Business Plan. Jacob LaGrander secured second place in Agribusiness, Easton Holmes placed second in Introduction to Financial Math, and Carter Ketterhagen took second in Economics. Chezny Harris earned third in Economics, Seth Zastrow took third in Accounting 1, and Kira Lato and Grace Schmidt placed third with a Community Service Project.
These talented FBLA members qualified for the 2025 WI FBLA State Leadership Conference on March 31 and April 1 in Green Bay at the KI Convention Center.
The mission of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is to “inspire and prepare students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences.” The concept of FBLA was first established in 1937, with the inaugural high school chapter being chartered in 1942 in Tennessee. Stanley-Boyd High School received its FBLA charter on October 31, 2003, and currently boasts 28 members. FBLA Advisor Karen Eslinger, who has guided the Stanley-Boyd chapter for eight years, shares that one of her most cherished FBLA memories is the uniqueness of each year’s experience.
“The most rewarding component is seeing students put forth effort in studying and preparing and then earn the opportunity to compete at the state competition,” says Eslinger.
The Stanley-Boyd FBLA’s goal is to encourage student involvement and build confidence as they learn vital business concepts and skills. Eslinger emphasizes that the goal is for all members to participate in the Regional Leadership Conference, where they can choose from over 70 competitive event opportunities, including chapter, objective test, presentation, production, and role-play events. The top three competitors at the regional conference qualify for the state conference, with the chance to place in the top four and earn an invitation to the national conference.
