The Stanley-Boyd American Legion Baseball team finished the season July 17, coming away with a 2-5 record. With several games cancelled on account of rain, Legion Baseball coach Jake Tiry shared more on how the season went this year.
“We had a great season,” he said. “Unfortunately rain cancellations happen and they caused us to miss a few games this season but all in all we had a ton of fun and the kids were able to get some good quality baseball. Brady Birky, Koebin Wundrow, Dylan Robinson and Porter Goettl were able to get some quality pitches in. Ryan Bowe, Devon Parker, and Porter Goettl were able to work on framing and stopping the ball at catcher. Jammers Gindt, Devon Parker and Carter Weltzin got some quality time at first base. Keaton Breuch, Peyton Zygerlicke showed their versatility playing all over the field. Landon Ewer and Josiah Demske gave us some quality plays. Caleb Ciolkosz from Thorp helped out and filled in where he could, wish he was suiting up for Stanley next year. Sawyer Laager is turning into a great outfielder showcasing some very good speed. Easton Holmes, Fisher Pischke and Dayne Trunkel each had some good hits. Shyloh Wellner laid down some pretty good bunts showcasing some pretty good skill. Kaiden Parker put in a really good at bat for us in the Menomonie Tournament. Dawson Ewer and Alex Williams put in some good final plays showcasing the seniors they are and helped coach some pretty good kids along the way. I appreciate the kids coming out and enjoying their time playing baseball. This gave everyone a chance to work on new skills, play new positions, and work on getting better for the next season. I’m excited to see what they can do for the upcoming 2026 season. I want to again say thank you to the Stanley Legion Post 112 and Boyd Post 326 for giving us the opportunity to have summer baseball in Stanley again. They really stepped up and allowed these kids to play and without them it would have been really hard to have the team we had. I like to add that the boys and I are honored to be able to have the two posts sponsor us and we thank them for their service.”
