The Stanley Common Council took time at its Tuesday, Sept. 8 meeting to recognize former police chief Roy Fredrickson for 31 years of dedicated service to the city, honoring a career that included nearly two decades as Stanley’s chief of police and continued service in city public works after retiring as chief.
Fredrickson, who recently passed away from cancer, served as Stanley’s police chief from 1992 to 2011, also working as an Stanley officer before that and public works in retirement.
Mayor Ben Wald issued the proclamation of recognition, which highlighted Fredrickson’s commitment, work ethic, professionalism and contributions to the city.
The proclamation reads as follows:
PROCLAMATION OF RECOGNITION
Honoring Roy Fredrickson for 31 Years of Dedicated Service
WHEREAS, Roy Fredrickson has demonstrated unwavering commitment, exceptional skill, and a tireless work ethic for the City of Stanley; and
WHEREAS, Roy Fredrickson served the City of Stanley as a Police Officer for 26 years, 19 as Chief of Police, serving with unmatched work ethic, ensuring the health and safety of the community; and
WHEREAS, for the past five years, Roy Fredrickson has been an indispensable member of our team, playing a vital role in the maintenance, management, and optimization of streets and department processes; and
WHEREAS, Roy Fredrickson has consistently gone above and beyond the call of duty, contributing to the operational efficiency of our systems, and upholding the highest standards; and
WHEREAS, Roy Fredrickson’s professionalism, problem-solving abilities, humor and dedication to continuous learning have set an exemplary standard for all those in the City of Stanley; and
WHEREAS, Roy Fredrickson’s service has been marked not only by technical expertise but also by an unwavering commitment to teamwork, mentoring new employees, and fostering a positive and collaborative work environment;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that I, the undersigned, in recognition of Roy Fredrickson’s outstanding service and contribution to the success of the City of Stanley, do hereby honor and commend Roy Fredrickson for his 31 years of dedicated service to our community.
BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED that Roy Fredrickson’s efforts continue to set a high standard of excellence in the Police and Streets departments, and we are forever grateful for his service to the City of Stanley.
