Stanley Lions donate to provide beds to children without one

Meeting on Monday, September 8, the Stanley Lions reviewed some more recent projects and planned forthcoming activities. A new endeavor that the Lions will be helping with is a Bed Build, that District clubs will join together to make happen, on Saturday, September 20, at the Jim Falls Lions Club Building. The goal is to build 20 beds for area children who don’t have a bed to sleep in. To help with the expenses of supplies, mattresses, bedding, etc. the Stanley Lions will be contributing $500. It was announced the Stanley Lions sponsored Concertina Extravaganza will be held this year on Sunday, September 21, at the Chapman Park Community Center. All funds raised at the event will be donated to the Library Building Fund.
In other business, the annual Sunset Home Brat Supper and Bingo was set for Monday, October 20 and Lion John Pozdell will be chairing the Stanley Lions participation in the Trunk and Treat event scheduled for Saturday, October 25. Lion Mary Jo Winkler announced that the Elementary School Vision Screening is being planned for October 8 and 9.
Stanley Lions were encouraged to support the Stanley Community Association’s “Drive for Cash” at Chapman Park, on Friday, September 12, from 9 am to 5 pm. Check out the beautiful Ford trucks and cars that will be on site for viewing and test driving. You can help, as proceeds from the test driving will be going towards SCA’s planned Splash Pad and Handicap Playground Project.
Lion President Laurie Foster announced that she plans to attend the soon to be held “Imagine the Possibilities ” session to be held at the Lake Holcombe Lions Building. Anyone else interested in attending can contact her. She also has information available for anyone interested in attending a Wisconsin Lions Summit that will be held in Marshfield on October 24 and 25. The club will provide sponsorship for any attendees.
Lion Russ Jensen introduced the Lions 2030 Committees request for a small group participation at October meeting.
In closing, it was announced that the next regular meeting of the Stanley Lions Club will be held at Debbie’s On Broadway on Monday, October 13. Lion Dan Plombon was the winner of the attendance drawing and was not present to collect the winnings.
