Meeting on Monday, October 12, the Stanley Lions voted funding for three causes that make our community a better place to live! First, a $500 donation was voted to the Chippewa County Spirit of Christmas that in return provides Christmas gifts to 60-80 families each year in the Stanley-Boyd area who would be having less for Christmas without the gifts. Lion Carl Edwardson is coordinating plans for the bringing of the gift packages from Chippewa Falls and their distribution on Saturday, December 12. A second donation of $500 was made to the Stanley-Boyd Food Pantry, that again will assist with the purchase of Christmas meat for the recipients in the Stanley and Boyd area. A third donation of $10,000 will go the D. R Moon Library to pay off the remaining balance of the Lions pledge of $25,000 to the library expansion project. The Lions thank those who are able and willing to support their annual fund raising efforts throughout the year. Without that support, there would be no ability to support making our community a better place in which to live and work.

Lion Dave Jankoski distributed a report on the 2026 Metal Recycling that indicated that, so far the spring and fall collections, were successful both from a revenue and service aspect. In total, over 55,518 pounds of metal went to a salvage yard instead of a land fill or laying around on properties. He noted the appreciation of many donors that they were able to get rid of their small amounts of metal that had been laying around their garage or basement for considerable time.
It was reported that Lion Adam Smit has placed the order for a new design Lions dress shirt, that were ordered by individual Lions. It is expected that the order will arrive before the end of the month.
Lion Dave Winkler noted that the deer hide collection basket has already been placed at Lube Supply, 614 S. Broadway in Stanley. The collection basket will be in place until after the regular hunting seasons. All donated hides help fund youth with handicaps to attend Lions Camp Rosholt at no cost to their family.

Tickets for the Lions Annual Christmas Raffle were distributed by Lion Winkler. Only 500 tickets are sold at $10 each, and cash prizes are awarded each day from December 1-24.
