Hello Stanley community and welcome back to our library column! Please read on for all the latest news from us here at the D.R. Moon Me morial Library. The library board meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 5PM in the lower level of the library. The meetings are open to the public and all are welcome to attend. If you are unable to make it to the meeting, you can find the updates I share with the board each month here.

With the collaboration and support of her family, a memorial fund has been established in honor of Peggy Dalberto, our much beloved children’s librarian of several years. Please stop by the library to view the beautiful wood cre- ations on display around the fireplace, including birch bark baskets, picture frames, garden lad- ders, and chairs. Everything is the work of Bar ry Dalberto, Peggy’s husband, and all proceeds from their sale will directly benefit the memorial fund. Thank you so much to Peggy’s family and especially Barry and Amanda for working with library stau to honor Peggy's memory in such a meaningful way.

A community garden for this year is also in the process of being established on the south side of the library in memory of Peggy. Peggy loved her garden and had an amazing green thumb so community members who knew her have expressed interest in honoring her memory with a garden. Our seed library is also open to the public with many flower, vegetable, and herb seeds available and free for the taking.

Your library fact for the month: we had 148 new patrons register for library cards last year! their Variety Show Sunday, May 22nd at 2:00 pm in the high school gymnasium.

The number of new card registrations per month peaked last June when we had 46 people sign up for a library card in just that month. 148 new pa trons is also the highest number of new patrons we've registered in a year since 2016.

Make sure to check out the Explore MORE Passport Program, open now until July 15th! New this year, the Passport Program was devel- oped by IFLS and MORE library stau to help you discover MORE libraries and their commu – nities. Enter to win prizes including state park and state trail passes, gas gift cards, and road trip essentials. The program is open to all ages! Other programs this month include Storytime on the 19th at 10:30AM, Teen Creative Writer's Guild on the 19th at 4PM, Creative Writer's Guild at 2PM on the 24th, Crafting Club on the 25th at 2:30PM, and the final Girls Who Code Club meetings of the school year on the 26th at 4PM. Our book club is currently reading The Book Thief and will meet on the 12th at 2PM. Check out our website, or pick up a calendar from the library, for the full details on current programs.

The library is open for you Monday through Friday from 10AM-6PM. Come in any time to use the computers, find a book or movie, borrow a Wi-Fi hotspot or iPad, or use our printer to fax, scan, and copy. We are still ouering curbside pick-up to those who wish to use that option and home delivery for the elderly and home-bound. Please note the library will be closed on Mon – day, May 30th for the holiday. Have a Happy Memorial Day!
