Dr. Ashley Frzendin is excited to be back home in Thorp and to be joining the team at Thorp Family Chiropractic. While attending graduate school at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, she learned about functional medicine and how it can work side by side with chiropractic adjustments. +++ Thorp native, Mike Disher was the recipient of the 2020 Haskell Noyes Efficiency Award, recognizing his "faithful and able ser vice.” It is the top honor for Wisconsin DNR Wardens. He was hired as a deputy warden by the DNR in 2001, went full time in 2002 and has been stationed in Calumet County the entire time.

At the Cornell City Council meeting on December 2, City Administrator Dave DeJongh reported that reconstruction work at the Cornell Wastewater Treatment Plant is expected to be completed in the next month or two. With the recent arrival of a valve, after several months wait, portions of the plant could be up and running by the week of Christmas. +++ Cornell is exploring hiring Chippewa County to take over Uniform Dwelling Code inspections as their current UDC building inspector is retiring. +++ An ordinance allowing storage containers use in Cadott has been approved with the provision that they are to be temporary and will require a building permit in order to keep track of their placement.+++ In the 100 years since coming into existence, the Cadott American Legion has remained a pillar of the community supporting veterans needs and other needs throughout the community. Historically significant, is that a Cadott American Legion Band had the distinction of performing “On Wisconsin,” before President Calvin Coolidge, at the Omaha National Legion Conventions.

The Bloomer Chamber of Commerce held their Christmas extravaganza on Saturday, December 11. It began with Breakfast With Santa from 8-10 am at Main Street Cafe, local retail store shopping, carols and treats before the parade, the parade at 6 pm, another opportunity for a visit with Santa and treats following the parade. The Home Lighting Contest judging parade, and an invitation to tour Light Up The Park, concluded the day’s activities. +++ Bloomer American Legion Auxiliary President Yyonne Se idling-Rosenbrook presented Alena Otto with a National Hero Good Deed Award at the organization’s Christmas Party. Otto saved a boy who fell through the ice.

O-W Enterprise Curtiss Corners Quilt Club made 17 quilts that they donated to Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a Spencer based organization that builds and delivers beds for children who don’t have one. Beds are free for children ages 3-11, come with a mattress and bedding and are delivered and set up by volunteers from the organiza- tion. +++ With the assistance of Scott and Lori's Family Foods, St. Katherine’s Church and the Hands Foundation held the 14th Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner, which was served to 201 people in the Owen-Withee area. +++ The Owen-Withee Booster Club was the recipient of $5,000 from Forward Bank, as part of their Guide Our Giving Program.

The Tribune-Phonograph Under a new policy passed by the Abbotsford City Council on December 6, residents who leave furniture and other junk out on their lawns could be charged $200 for the city to dispose of the items. +++ After a year's absence the madrigal dinner returns to Colby High School. The food will remain the same and some songs will be familiar, but now in its 23rd year of operation, the show will be under the direction of new show choir director, Car- men Wells. +++The 50th Anniversary of the Abbotsford Christ mas Parade was an outstanding success. The streets were lined with spectators and the children were enthralled with what they were seeing. +++ The Dorchester Village Board has voted to sell an acre of land fronting on Highway 13 to an unnamed heating and plumbing business.
