Thorp Town Board approves resolution to vacate Scandinavian Street

Town of Thorp Chairman Bob Kodl (left) discusses a proposal to discontinue and vacate Scandinavian Street with supervisors Roger Slowiak (center) and Calvin Schultze (right) during the Town of Thorp board meeting on June 10. The street, located on the same property as the former town garage in historic Eidsvold, was a topic of discussion as board members passed the resolution to vacate the roadway. A public hearing on the matter has been scheduled for Aug. 12 at the new town hall. “We don’t want it. It isn’t going to do us any good,” explained Chairman Bob Kodl when asked why the town was pursuing the action. Following the sale of the former town garage, a Town of Thorp resident now owns the property on both sides of Scandinavian Street. “He’ll own all of that then,” added Clerk Arlene Kodl. Due to scheduling conflicts, the next town board meeting has been moved to July 6 at 6:30 p.m.
