Three State qualifiers and another with a career milestone. These are the results from Sectionals Saturday at Tomahawk.

As to State, this year will see three Stanley-Boyd wrestlers on the mat: Breckin Burzynski, Anna Krizan, and Willy Graham.

As to career milestones, Troy Trevino marked 101 career wins at Tomahawk, taking fourth place in the 126 pound weight category. Orioles head coach Greg Burzynski had more on the Sectional results and State when reached for comment.

“We came out of the sectional tournament in Tomahawk with three state qualifiers: Anna, Breckin, and Willy,” he said. “I am excited to see what they can do at the state tournament!”

As to Krizan, Burzynski said that, “she made history and became the first female state qualifier in SB history.  She had a bye to the finals and took care of business coming up with a first-period pin.”

Krizan (25 - 4) punched her ticket to State by placing first 107 pound weight class with 28 team points, winning by fall (1:23) over Kylie Peissig (23 - 11) of Tomahawk in the First Place match.

As to Burzynski (44 -4), he finished second in the 138 pound weight class and scored 14 team points, winning by no contest over Trenton Kirkland (45 - 5) of Hayward/Northwood) before falling by Decision (Dec 7 - 2) to William Penn (47 - 2) of Ellsworth in the first place match. Coach Burzynski said that, “Breckin went 2-1 and fell just short in the finals to Penn from Ellsworth.  Even in the loss, I feel he wrestled a good match.  He made one mistake, Penn capitalized and that was the difference in the match.  He will be ready to go next week in his third consecutive appearance at the state tournament.”

As to Graham (44 - 8), he punched his ticket to state by placing second at Tomahawk and scoring 16 team points, winning by no contest over Logan Bockman (37 - 11) of St. Croix Falls before falling to Koy Hopke (35 - 2) of Amery by fall (0:54) in the first place match. Coach Burzynksi said that, “Willy also went 2-1.  He really kept us on our toes in the semi-final match, but held off a takedown attempt as time expired to win 1-0 and advance to the final.  He kept his composure in that match and was able to hold on for the victory, make it to the finals, and advance to the state tournament.”

Regarding Troy Trevino, Coach Burzynski said that, “Troy came up just short of a state trip placing 4th.  He did reach the milestone of earning 100th win at the regional last week, but due to a calculation error on my part, we missed it. Congrats to him!” Trevino scored 7 team points for Stanley Boyd.

Also wrestling at Sectionals, meanwhile, were Landen Hoel (28 - 10), Candin Yeager (32 - 20), and Aaron Sturm (24 - 23).

“Landen, Candin, and Aaron earned their opportunity to wrestle at the sectional tournament but had some tough draws,” Coach Burzynski said. “Landen and Aaron went 0 - 1 and Candin went 0 - 2.”

Come Thursday, all eyes will be on the Kohl Center. Krizan wrestles at 3 p.m., with Burzynski and Graham wrestling around 7 p.m
