S-B players earn All Conference awards, team played Necedah Tuesday in first post season game
The Oriole varsity volleyball team is flying high this year.
With a season record 5-0 at home and 8-1 away and ranked first in the Cloverbelt at 6-1 in win-loss ratio for the conference, the Oriole varsity volleyball team did it again Saturday at the Conference Championship, coming away with a three-way tie against Bloomer and McDonnell, with all three teams ranked in the top ten of their division.
Receiving the number 2 seed be-hind Edgar, the Orioles were scheduled to play Necedah at home Tuesday after press time.
Also coming away from Saturday's competition were All Conference awards: Emily Brenner with First Team and Player of the Year, Kayte Licht with Second Team, and Avery Vait with Honorable Mention. As to the action Saturday, Orioles varsity head coach Karley Wiensch had the following to share.
"I am proud of our team for being recognized for being one of the top teams in our conference," she said. "Like I have stated before, I believe the Western-Cloverbelt is one of the hardest conferences to play in." Nonetheless, Wiensch was optimistic. "I am excited for the playoffs!" She said. "We control our own destiny. We have the talent to make it all the way, we just need to do our job as a team and work together."
