The transformation of Maple Street is officially in full swing. With pavement now completely removed and crews working steadily through summer, the City of Stanley’s large infrastructure project is moving forward. The long-planned reconstruction project kicked off in early July, following the Stanley City Council’s approval of a $3.7 million construction contract with Haas & Sons. The work is being guided by engineering firm CBS Squared and includes not only a full roadway rebuild but critical updates to underground utilities, stormwater drainage, and pedestrian access.
Residents have seen a constant stream of construction activity—digging, grading, and prepping the street for a complete overhaul from the ground up. With detours in place and heavy equipment on site daily, the area has become a hive of progress—and patience.
City officials recently announced that work will continue through November 2025, with some key final touches, including the final lift of asphalt, scheduled for early 2026. This phased approach allows for proper curing of the roadbed and ensures long-term durability once the top layer is laid next spring.
In short, the Maple Street Reconstruction Project is a major upgrade—what’s currently a construction zone will soon be a safer, stronger, and more modern road built to serve Stanley for generations to come.
