The City Council discussed installing automatic secured doors at the new Soo Line Depot Pavilion. A monthly fee would be charged for the new doors, but Alderperson Mark Fitzsimmons thinks this the best alternative and worth it in the long run. The building would need WIFI but the doors could be remotely opened and locked at specific hours of the day so staff would not have to be burdened with the task.
Alderperson Laurie Foster asked if someone would inspect the building to make sure that individuals aren’t intentionally staying in the building when the door locks in the evening.
“We can’t control every person in the city of Stanley. They will be able to get out,” Fitzsimmons said detailing that these are breakout doors where individuals can get out but not get in. “This is the only way we can control it without having to burden our staff with additional times.”
More information will be provided to the Council before they make a final decision.
