This week, the spotlight shines on two hardworking athletes, Chezny Harris and Storm Tiry, who have shown tremendous dedication and perseverance, making invaluable contributions to their basketball team.
Coach Nichols commended both players, highlighting their tireless effort and teamwork. “Storm and Chezny continue to work hard every day and make our team better by pushing the starters in practice. Having role players like these two are essential for any team to have success,” he said. “They fly under the radar and don’t get the recognition they deserve, but we wouldn’t be the team we are without them. I appreciate the dedication to our program, despite not getting the playing time they would like. With the winning mentality they possess, I have no doubt they will be successful in their future careers.”
Harris, who has been playing basketball since his freshman year, reflected on some of his favorite moments in the sport. "I enjoy the locker room celebration after a big win," he shared. One of his most memorable experiences was playing on the Timberwolves’ court, a moment he won’t soon forget. After graduation, Harris plans to pursue a career in carpentry, applying the same dedication and work ethic he's shown on the court.
Through his time in basketball, Tiry has learned that perseverance is key, even when things don’t go as expected. "You don’t always get what you want, you can’t give up just because of that," he explained. Having played basketball since third grade, Tiry shares, “What I enjoy most is probably the grind—working hard day in and day out.” After graduation, Tiry plans to attend Minnesota State University, Mankato on a football scholarship, where he will study agribusiness. Both Chezny Harris and Storm Tiry exemplify the true meaning of teamwork and dedication. Whether on the court or in their chosen careers, these two athletes will continue to excel and inspire those around them.
