This week’s Athlete of the Week is junior Brenner Myers, a dedicated member of the Stanley-Boyd Orioles golf team whose perseverance has helped him achieve some memorable milestones on the course.
One of Myers’ proudest accomplishments came at the conference championship, where he recorded a personal best round. Reflecting on the moment, he said, “My favorite moment of the year was shooting a career-best score of 77 at the conference championship.” This achievement served as a testament to the commitment he has invested in his game.
Myers’s success this season did not go unnoticed by Stanley-Boyd head golf coach Devon Wenndt. Wenndt said, “Brenner Myers was an honorable mention all-conference golfer this year and finished solo 2nd at the conference championship meet in Black River Falls a few weeks ago.” The recognition highlights the strong season Myers put together and his impact on the program.
Myers began playing golf in middle school and joined the Stanley-Boyd golf team as a sophomore. The opportunity to continue developing his game motivated him to become part of the program. “What inspired me to join the team was the opportunity to improve my skills,” he explained.
Like many golfers, Myers has faced challenges along the way. He shared that one of the toughest aspects of the game has been staying composed when things do not go as planned. “The biggest challenge I’ve faced in my golf game has been my ability to bounce back and let the game unfold naturally, rather than forcing my shots,” he said. Learning to trust the process and remain patient has been an important part of his growth as a golfer.
Beyond the competition, Myers values the experiences and friendships that come with being part of the team. “I’ve enjoyed the relationships I’ve built and the van rides the most,” he said. Those moments have helped create lasting memories throughout his high school golf career.
Throughout Myers’s golf journey, one person has consistently been by his side. “My biggest supporter throughout my golf career has been my grandpa. We’ve played countless rounds together to help me improve,” Myers said.
With the support of his family, teammates, and coaches, Brenner Myers has continued to grow both as a golfer and as a valued member of the Stanley-Boyd golf program. His dedication and willingness to learn have contributed to a successful season and earned the respect of those around him. Congratulations, Brenner!
