The Stanley City Council agreed to partner with VC3, a managed IT services and support company with over twenty-nine years of experience that helps provide cyber security. Max Spaeth, senior account executive at VC3 attended the council meeting on February 19th to explain the services, including a broad suite of technology solutions, that VC3 provides municipalities and local governments.
“The current solution, Krista Computers, (is) more of a break-fix type solution,” stated Spaeth of the City’s current IT support. He added that if something went wrong, they would come out and try to handle it but the challenge is that then they are dealing with a reactive solution whereas VC3 wants to be proactive. “When you are considering IT for municipalities, being proactive is what we are going to be delivering.”
He informed the Council that VC3 provides support that will be available 24/7, 365 days a year (even on holidays) through phone or email, including agent support. They would also provide preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.
“The primary thing that VC3 would be providing is that cybersecurity and it’s very advanced.” Spaeth shared that municipalities are targeted more than other companies and they would train city employees in what to look for and what not to click on for cyber safety. “Our number one goal is to keep you out of the headlines,” he said regarding cyber-attacks. “We want to be a proactive solution.”
When asked his opinion regarding IT support for the Police Department, police chief Lance Weiland informed the council, “It’s definitely something we need.”
Spaeth shared that the primary offices of VC3 are in Madison or Minnesota, but they have remote work scattered throughout the state and service 34 states.
The City of Stanley will be charged a monthly fee of $2,234,03 with a one-time onboarding fee of $2,228.90. Spaeth stated that the monthly fixed fee won’t be charged to the City until the onboarding process is complete. “Our number one focus is to make sure you guys are protected out of the gate.”
As the council approved VC3 for IT support, Spaeth said, “We’re looking forward to partnering. It’s going to be exciting.”
